The Harry Potter book series (and movies) basically raised an entire generation (and still continues to do so—I see you, millennials!). I’m sure I’m speaking for most people when I say that becoming a student at Hogwarts was a lifelong dream. It’s been a while since I read the novels, and I realized that I missed the feeling the storyline gave me. So I went ahead and did a quick search of the books just to see if my wallet could handle it. Reader, what I found genuinely shocked me more than Dumbledore’s fate. (Okay, I know, still too soon.) Really, though, seeing that the entire series bundle was up at 79% off on Amazon was just something I wasn’t expecting to stumble upon. I’m not sure there has been a children’s book series that has seen the success of the Harry Potter franchise. The books alone were read by millions upon millions of kids and adults alike. Then, in the early 2000s, the movies became an entire world of their own.
In the off chance you aren’t familiar with the story or if you’re looking for the best way to describe this to someone else you’re purchasing the books for, then this is what you have to know: Harry Potter follows an 11-year-old boy named Harry. He lives a rather sad life with his mean aunt and uncle and their pesky son. Very quickly into meeting Harry, we witness as he finds out that he is, indeed, a wizard, and that his aunt and uncle knew this, but chose to hide it from him. He’s then inducted into the magical school Hogwarts, where he meets his fellow sorcerer pals, Hermione and Ron. This is where he and his friends navigate growing up and learn this new spellbinding life with them across the series. There’s much evil to be fought and answers to be sought after throughout all seven books.
