Avid readers have very distinct opinions on the books they consume throughout the year; what your favorite certainly can differ widely from someone else’s. That said, Amazon has just released its staff of editors’ own version of the best books of the year, ranking 20 of the titles that came out in 2025. You may agree or disagree, but it’s certainly worth checking out—especially as you shop for your book stash for your holiday vacation or gift list.

A lot is going on here, and while this is a ranking, every book on this list was deemed worthy of reading by the Amazon editorial staff. We won’t spoil anything book-wise before you get to scrolling, but just know some popular authors made the cut, while some new, fresh-to-the-scene writers also were deemed worthy of a spot on the list! We’ve listed them in the same order as Amazon, providing a brief description of each, along with a review from each of their staff members.
