Australian actor Jacob Elordi rose to fame in 2019 after starring as Nate Jacobs in HBO’s teen drama Euphoria. The Brisbane native’s first starring role came in 2018’s The Kissing Booth, which yielded two sequels. After skyrocketing to stardom with Euphoria, Elordi appeared in Deep Water (2022) and made his BAFTA-nominated performance in Saltburn in 2023. Jacob Nathaniel Elordi was born on June 26, 1997 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia to Basque-born house painter John Elordi and stay-at-home mom Melissa Elordi. The youngest of four children, Jacob grew up with three older sisters in the northern suburbs of Brisbane.
At 12 years old, he and his family moved to Melbourne so his sister Isabella could attend the Australian Ballet School. It was around this time that he became interested in acting. Elordi was first inspired to become an actor after watching Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker in the 2008 Christopher Nolan film The Dark Knight. But it was his first role as The Cat in the Hat in his school’s production of Seussical that made him realize he loved performing. “I was quite loud as a kid, which is every actors’ thing. They didn’t know what to do with me. There was a teacher at school, Mrs. McMahon, who decided to cast me as the cat,” he recalled in an interview with Variety in December 2025. “As soon as I was singing and dancing with the big hat on, I knew that that was what I wanted to do.”
From there, Elordi continued performing in musicals at his all-boys Catholic school while also playing on the rugby team. However, this soon led to teasing from his classmates. “From the moment I did a play I was called gay at school,” he later told British GQ in August 2022. “But I had this abundance of confidence in myself because I could do both: I was quite good at sport and I think I was quite good at theatre.”
Four years later, Elordi returned to Brisbane for his final years of high school, attending St. Joseph’s Nudgee College, where his rugby career came to an end after sustaining a serious back injury. A major turning point in his life, the setback ultimately made him decide to pursue a career in acting. To help prepare himself, Elordi began working on his American accent, modeling his speech after Vin Diesel and Eminem.
After graduating high school, Elordi had some small success, securing a part in a student film called Carpe Liam. The following year, he was cast in his first feature film, appearing in the Australian comedy Swinging Safari (2018), starring Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce. Elordi also took acting classes at 16th Street Actors Studio in Melbourne, but was kicked out for breaking the school’s rule about not auditioning while enrolled. “When they asked me to leave, the next Friday, I booked The Kissing Booth,” he told the Awards Chatter podcast in November 2025.

The Kissing Booth Franchise
In early 2017, Elordi landed his breakthrough role as bad-boy jock Noah Flynn in the teen romantic comedy The Kissing Booth (2018), which he has since called “ridiculous.” Shortly after production wrapped in South Africa, he made the move from Australia to Los Angeles to try to make it in Hollywood. While the film put him on the map, the attention and scrutiny he received because of it almost made him quit acting entirely. “I hated being a character to the public,” the actor recalled to British GQ. “I felt so far from myself.”
To make things worse, Elordi was struggling to find work and soon began living in his car. While he would eventually go on to reprise his role in the sequels The Kissing Booth 2 (2020) and The Kissing Booth 3 (2021), he was broke and on the verge of overstaying his visa.
Euphoria Fame
As such, Elordi was seriously considering moving back home when he booked his next major role in the HBO series Euphoria. The gritty teen drama saw Elordi as Nate Jacobs—a charismatic yet abusive football star who struggles with his toxic relationship with his father. “He’s an emotional terrorist, a narcissist, a sociopath, a freak. All those things,” he said of his character to W magazine in February 2021.
Premiering in 2019, the show quickly catapulted him to fame, opening up new doors for Elordi, and many of his costars, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer, and Colman Domingo. While it ended after three seasons in 2026, his time on the series ultimately changed the trajectory of his career, paving the way for more heavy-hitting roles.
Deep Water, Saltburn, and Priscilla
During his time on Euphoria, Elordi appeared in the films The Mortuary Collection (2019) and 2 Hearts (2020) before finding success in the 2022 erotic thriller Deep Water, starring Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck. While the movie received largely negative reviews and despite his limited screen time, the actor was praised for his portrayal of a gifted pianist who has an affair with a married woman.
Elordi soon followed with four more films in 2023. He first appeared in the QAnon-inspired satire The Sweet East before portraying real-life serial killer Larry Lee Ranes in He Went That Way with Zachary Quinto. Later in the year, he earned prestige actor status with his critically acclaimed performance in Emerald Fennell’s dark comedy-thriller Saltburn, which went viral for its now infamous bathtub scene. Starring alongside Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike, Elordi played aloof, wealthy Oxford student Felix Catton, giving audiences a rare look at a multi-dimensional rich boy character. The role earned the actor his first BAFTA Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
He also portrayed music legend Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s biopic Priscilla, about Priscilla Presley’s marriage to Elvis. Elordi felt so much self-inflicted pressure to nail the King of Rock and Roll’s voice that he spoke in Elvis’s signature Southern drawl during his entire time on set. “There’s all these layers and hoops that you have to jump through to get to that voice,” he said to GQ in November 2023. “So for me personally to be dropping out my voice and then coming in, it’s not going to work.”
Elordi filmed Priscilla just three weeks after wrapping Saltburn, and the back-to-back films helped him gain more confidence in himself. “I feel like what I think I’m capable of has sort of been confirmed to myself a little bit, and hopefully I don’t lose that,” he told Vanity Fair that December.
Oscar Nomination for Frankenstein
Elordi next gave a standout performance in 2024’s Oh, Canada, portraying the younger version of a Richard Gere’s character—a Canadian documentary filmmaker who gives one last interview to tell the truth about his life. That same year, he also starred in the historical romantic drama On Swift Horses, portraying a Korean War veteran who embarks on a romance with a casino worker, played by Diego Calva.
2025 proved to be a big year for Elordi. The actor played the younger version of an Army surgeon who is taken as a prisoner of war in the miniseries The Narrow Road to the Deep North. He received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series for the role, one of two noms ahead of the 2026 award season.
Elordi soon achieved massive commercial and critical success for his turn as Frankenstein’s Monster, or the Creature, in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. He landed the role on short notice after Andrew Garfield dropped out just nine weeks before filming. To get into character, Elordi went into the woods for a month to get in the headspace of the famed monster. He also studied Butoh—an avant-garde form of Japanese dance theater—from which he drew inspiration for the Creature’s unsteady walk. “It’s sort of about the reanimation of a corpse, which was a helpful way to get inside my body,” he said at a Netflix panel in October 2025.
Elordi’s performance earned him his first Oscar nomination, receiving a nod for Best Supporting Actor. “This character for me and what is onscreen is everything that I’ve wanted to say as an actor my whole life,” Elordi told The Hollywood Reporter in the wake of his nomination in January 2026. “It’s everything that I could possibly express of myself in a part. So in a way, the Creature is the personification of a dream I had when I was very small.”
Wuthering Heights and The Dog Stars
In early 2026, the actor starred alongside Margot Robbie in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Based on the Emily Brontë book, he portrayed the brooding and vengeful Heathcliff. In an interview with Esquire UK in January, Elordi revealed that he accidentally got too into character, injuring himself in the shower on his back—the same place where Heathcliff is often depicted having scars. “As Heathcliff, I was covered in mange and dirt... So I went to clean my feet, and I leant back and my back seared into the steam knob and I stood up screaming,” he said. “When I went to work on Monday I had a second-degree burn.”
Elordi’s latest project, The Dog Stars, sees him in a completely new kind of role. The actor is set to transform into an action hero in the post-apocalyptic sci-fi flick, directed by Ridley Scott, about the aftermath of deadly flu pandemic. Costarring Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Alison Janney, Elordi plays Hig—a civilian pilot who goes on a mission to track down the source of a mysterious radio transmission, aided by his dog Jasper and an ex-Marine.
Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in November 2025, he described what it was like to work with Ridley. “He’s a master craftsman,” Elordi said. “He directs from this trailer wrapped to look like the set, and you’ll hear this voice croak from inside— ‘Jake!’—and then the curtain pulls back, and Oz is sitting there in a ‘Body of Lies’ bucket hat, smoking a Cuban cigar with 20 monitors in front of him... it’s astonishing.” The Dog Stars arrives in theaters in late August.
Looking ahead, Elordi will next appear in the upcoming film Outer Dark, based on the Cormac McCarthy novel, with Lily-Rose Depp.
How Tall Is Jacob Elordi?
Often towering over his female costars, Elordi stands at 6 feet, 5 inches tall. In an interview with GQ in July 2020, the actor revealed that his height was initially something he lied about when auditioning for roles.
“I used to be so sensitive about my height, because when I first started acting, literally everybody would tell me that I'd never work because they wouldn’t be able to partner me with people, and they wouldn’t lift the camera up,” he said. “So I used to try and pass as, like 6’2” or 6‘3”...people hear 6‘5”, and they go, like ‘You’re a giant,’ but if I stand next to someone who’s 6‘3”, the difference is, like, tiny.”

Elordi has had a few high-profile relationships, though he tends to keep his personal life private. Currently, he is reportedly dating model and influencer Kendall Jenner. Elordi and Jenner were first romantically linked in early 2026 and were later spotted kissing at Coachella in April, though they have yet to make it official.
Before Jenner, he dated influencer Olivia Jade Giannulli, the daughter of actor Lori Laughlin, starting in late 2021. The pair were in an on-again-off-again relationship for more than four years before officially calling it quits in October 2025.
Prior to that, Elordi dated model and actor Kaia Gerber from September 2020 to November 2021. After Elordi started working on Euphoria, rumors circulated that he was dating costar Zendaya in 2019, though neither formally confirmed it. Foot Injury
Though Elordi was scheduled to join the prestigious jury on the Cannes Film Festival in May 2026, he was forced to back out due to a broken foot. He only later revealed in July that the injury was a little more serious. “I broke both my heels earlier this year. Don’t talk about it. It’s like, it’s like Fight Club. I jumped off something,” Elordi said to Euphoria costar Colman Domingo on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The actor explained that he was wearing cast and boot around the same time his Euphoria character was being tortured by a loan shark and his henchmen. “Everyone thought it was hilarious to be like, ‘Oh, method acting. You did method acting.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I cut my toe off,'” he joked.
