From his decades as a business magnate to his ongoing tenure as U.S. President, Donald Trump has had a very important support system by his side: his family.

Starting with lessons learned from his parents, Fred and Mary Anne, Trump expanded his father’s real estate company into a global brand featuring hotels, golf courses, and more. The 78-year-old has more recently grown a political empire, which has prominently featured First Lady Melania Trump as well as his five children, from Don Jr. to Barron. Get to know these key members of the Trump family tree below.

Donald Trump has hinted he picked up much of his business acumen from his dad, Fred Trump. “I learned from my father that every penny counts, because before too long your pennies turn into dollars,” he wrote in his 1987 book The Art of the Deal.

Born in the Bronx, Fred started his own construction company at age 15. He used what he learned to build more than 27,000 apartments and row homes in New York City over the course of his career. Donald took over the company, now known as the Trump Organization, in 1971.

By the time of his death, Fred had amassed an estimated $300 million fortune. However, his success wasn’t without controversy. Fred was arrested in 1976 over a series of code violations at a building he owned in Maryland. Years after his death, a 2018 New York Times investigation found the entrepreneur had evaded nearly $500 million in taxes stemming from money transfers to his children.

Born on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland, Mary Anne MacLeod immigrated to the United States in 1930 to find work as a domestic servant. She married Fred Trump six years later, and the couple soon started a family. Donald is the fourth of their five children.

Trump called his mother the “perfect housewife” in The Art of the Deal. “My mother loves splendor and magnificence, while my father, who is very down-to-earth, gets excited only by competence and efficiency,” he wrote.

Outside of the home, Mary Anne was a philanthropist who supported charities near in Queens and beyond. She died in August 2000.

Born Ivana Marie Zelnícková what is now the Czech Republic, Ivana Trump competed as a skier throughout her teenage and young adult years. She eventually transitioned to modeling and moved to New York City, where she met Donald. The pair married in 1977 and had three children: Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric.

Although Ivana held various roles at Trump properties and became a fixture of the New York social scene, the marriage didn’t last. She was reportedly awarded $14 million as part of a settlement package following the couple’s divorce in 1991. She went on to start her own fashion company, Ivana Haute Couture, and wrote a 1995 self-help book.

Ivana died in her home in July 2022 from injuries sustained in an accidental fall. “Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination,” the Trump family said in a statement.

The breakdown of Ivana and Donald’s marriage largely stemmed from his relationship with actor Marla Maples, whom he met in 1985. He and Maples married in 1993 after having their daughter, Tiffany, earlier that year.

After appearing in the Tony-winning musical The Will Rogers Follies in 1992, Maples continued acting in movies such as 1996’s Executive Decision and 1997’s For Richer or Poorer. Also in 1997, the actor and the entrepreneur called it quits on their marriage. Trump and Maples’ divorce was finalized in 1999, with a copy of their prenuptial agreement revealing Maples received $2 million total from the split.

Now 61, Maples competed on Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars in 2016. She and Tiffany also spent Easter at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Florida in 2023.

Trump has called First Lady Melania Trump, whom he has been married to since 2005, “my rock and foundation, and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without her by my side.”

Prior to her prominent political role, the native Slovenian worked as a model in Milan, Paris, and New York City. She met Trump at a fashion party in 1998. Melania gave birth to the couple’s only child together, Barron, the year after their wedding.

As First Lady, 55-year-old Melania has championed her Be Best initiative, an awareness campaign combatting online bullying and the opioid epidemic. In October 2024, she released the eponymous memoir Melania detailing her childhood, marriage, and initial tenure in the White House.

The eldest child of Donald and Ivana Trump, 47-year-old Donald Trump Jr. is a trustee and executive vice president of the Trump Organization as well as an author.

Don Jr. has been at the forefront of his father’s political career—at times for scandalous reasons. In July 2017, The New York Times reported that he had arranged a meeting with a Russian lawyer to allegedly receive damaging information about presidential candidate Hillary Clinton prior to the 2016 election. He ultimately wasn’t charged with any campaign finance violations related to the meeting. He also promoted the false claim that the 2020 election, which then-President Trump lost to Joe Biden, was stolen. Don Jr. reportedly hinted at an effort to subvert the results in text messages around this time.

As for his personal life, Trump’s eldest son is a father of five with ex-wife Vanessa Trump. He also dated former prosecutor and TV personality Kimberly Guilfoyle for six years.

After serving as an aide during her father’s first term in office, Ivanka announced in 2022 that she was leaving politics to “prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family.” The 43-year-old has three children—Arabella, Joseph, and Theodore—with her husband, Jared Kushner.

Eric Trump, the youngest child of Donald and Ivana Trump, followed his father into business and real estate.

After graduating from Georgetown University in 2006, Eric became the executive vice president of development and acquisitions for the Trump Organization. Forbes recognized him among its 30 Under 30 in real estate in 2012. The 41-year-old now leads the family business alongside his older brother. Eric is also president of Virginia-based Trump Winery, which is separate from his father’s ventures.

For years, the Eric Trump Foundation has raised money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The organization became the subject of scrutiny when tax records suggested funds went toward events at Trump family properties. At the end of 2016, Eric stopped direct fundraising efforts for his foundation.

Eric and Lara Trump, who married in 2014, have two children: Eric, who goes by Luke, and Carolina. Lara is now a television host for Fox News.

1993–present

Tiffany, 31, is the only child of Trump and Marla Maples and was born two months prior to the couple’s 1993 marriage. She was named after the famous jewelry retailer Tiffany & Company, located next to Trump Tower on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue.

Following her parents’ divorce, Tiffany moved with her mother to Calabasas, California. Although she was surrounded by big names—her mother was a friend of Kris Jenner—Tiffany lived a more traditional childhood. She spent her time playing volleyball, basketball, and soccer among other activities. “[My mother] moved us out of New York to get out of the spotlight and let me grow up and find my own identity versus being in the shadow of a name or growing up very young with all that pressure,” Tiffany later told People.

She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and Georgetown University law school in 2020. Tiffany married Michael Boulos in November 2022. The couple announced the birth of their first child, son Alexander Trump Boulos, on May 15. “We love you beyond words! Thank you for coming into our lives!” Tiffany wrote on X.

Known for his distinguishable height—6 feet, 7 inches, according to Trump—Barron graduated from the private Oxbridge Academy in Florida in 2024. The 19-year-old is now attending business school at New York University and is bilingual in English and Slovenian. “I’m very proud of what he grew up to. His strength. His intelligence. His knowledge, his kindness. It’s admirable,” his mother, Melania, told Fox News.
