Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has spoken out for the first time following the musician’s unexpected death. The 25-year-old shared an Instagram story thanking social media users for their kind words.

“Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private,” Cassidy wrote.

On Wednesday, 31-year-old Payne tragically fell from a balcony to his death while staying at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fans gathered outside the property to mourn his loss together, and many friends and family have also shared tributes to the former boy band singer who became a star as part of One Direction. Payne’s old bandmates Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson issued a joint statement and individual farewells to their fallen friend.

Cassidy continued her goodbye with: “Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam. 444 ❤️”

The influencer’s statement was shared an hour before Cheryl Cole, Payne’s ex-girlfriend, commented publicly. The pair share a 7-year-old son together, Bear Payne. “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being. Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again,” the 41-year-old wrote.
