President Donald Trump’s youngest and tallest son is famously private.
Barron Trump is back in the spotlight. Despite growing up partially in the White House, the only child of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump has managed to live a mostly private life. Now that he’s older and his father is back in office, the 18-year-old is slowly making a name for himself outside of his famous family.
Barron made a rare public appearance at the presidential inauguration on January 20, standing front and center next to Trump advisor Elon Musk before cheering on his dad at the indoor inauguration parade. Just two weeks later, the president’s youngest and tallest son returned to New York University, where he studies business.

Barron became an uncle as a baby
Barron became an uncle when he was still a baby. He was just 1 year old when his eldest niece, Kai Trump, was born in May 2007. She is the eldest daughter of his half-brother Donald Trump Jr.
Since then, Barron has become an uncle many times over. In total, he has four nieces and six nephews from Don Jr. and his half-siblings Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump. From oldest to youngest, they are Donald Trump III, Arabella Kushner, Tristan Trump, Spencer Trump, Joseph Kushner, Chloe Trump, Theodore Kushner, and Luke Trump, and Carolina Trump.
In addition, his half-sister Tiffany Trump is expecting her first child later this year.
His nickname is “Little Donald”
Growing up, Melania gave Barron the nickname “little Donald” because of how similar his personality was to that of his father. “He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants,” she told Parenting in 2012. Melania also shared that the father and son spent quality time together golfing and eating dinner at their Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
Now an adult, Barron is following in his father’s footsteps by going into luxury real estate. The New York Post reported in January 2025 that Barron is preparing to launch his own real estate company, along with two business partners. After briefly incorporating in July 2024, Trump, Fulcher & Roxburgh Capital Inc. will reportedly be up and running this spring.
He was the first son to live in the White House in decades
Barron was only 10 years old when his father, Donald Trump, was elected the 45th president of the United States in November 2016. He turned 11 just two months after Donald took office.
In June 2017, Barron became the first son of a president to live in the White House residence since John F. Kennedy Jr. in 1963. Former presidents like Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton all had daughters living in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Now that his dad is serving a second term, he will return to the White House when he’s home from college.
Barron grew up bilingual
As the son of an immigrant, Barron learned to speak two languages growing up: English and Slovene. He is fluent in both tongues. Barron even had a slight Slovene accent as a young child, similar that of his mother who moved from Slovenia to the United States in 1996. However, his accent has since disappeared now that he has matured into an adult. Barron is also said to speak French, which he learned in school.
He graduated high school in 2024
Barron became a high school graduate this past year. He received a diploma from Oxbridge Academy, a private school in Palm Beach, Florida, at an outdoor ceremony in May 2024. In attendance were his parents and his maternal grandfather, Viktor Knavs.
He now attends New York University, where he studies at the Stern School of Business. Instead of staying in campus housing, however, Barron is living in his family home at Trump Tower while class is in session.
Barron is the tallest person in the Trump family
As the tallest member of the Trump family, Barron stands at 6 feet, 7 inches tall—a height he reached by age 15, according to his father. This makes him just two inches shorter than NBA legend LeBron James. Prior to Barron’s teenage growth spurt, Eric was the president’s tallest son at 6 feet, 5 inches.
He has only recently become a political figure
Despite his father’s previous campaigns, Barron made his political debut in July 2024 when he attended his first rally for Donald Trump in Florida. “You’re pretty popular,” his father said at the time. “He might be more popular than Don and Eric.”
At his father’s inaugural parade in January 2025, the president gave Barron a shout out, crediting the 18-year-old for making gains with young voters and recommending his dad appear on Joe Rogan’s podcast. “He knew the youth vote,” Donald said. The crowd erupted in applause, which Barron welcomed, putting his hand to his ear.
