After Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts won his first Super Bowl, the public got a rare peek at his fiancée as the couple shared a celebratory hug and kiss on the field.
Brianna “Bry” Rivera Burrows is extremely private, despite her husband-to-be being one of the most famous athletes in America. Here’s what you should know about her.
She attended the University of Alabama
Burrows studied political science and Spanish at Alabama and was a member of the Theta Sigma chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Hurts was also a student at the university, where he played for the football team and was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
It’s unclear when exactly they began dating. Hurts played his final college football season for the University of Oklahoma before being drafted by the Eagles in 2020. Burrows earned a master’s in business administration, also from the University of Alabama, in 2019.
Essence noted in 2023: “They’ve been dating off and on since their University of Alabama days, back when he was quarterbacking for the Crimson Tide. When the two made their romance public, after last season’s NFC Championship game, many Black women across the Internet simultaneously mourned the fact that Hurts was off the market and were giddy to see that a Black woman had won his heart.”
She works in tech
According to her LinkedIn (which has since been deleted), she was hired by IBM after she graduated. She works as an artificial intelligence partner for the tech company now.
Burrows and Hurts made their red carpet debut in 2023
The couple stepped out for the 2023 Time100 Next Gala in October. Hurts was among the night’s honorees, having made the magazine’s list of emerging leaders across industry, pop culture, and sports.
Earlier that year, the quarterback opened up about his feelings for Burrows in an interview with Essence. “I knew a long time ago,” Hurts said. “I mean, to this point in my life, that’s an irreplaceable feeling. I think that’s what allowed us to get to where we are now.”
Hurts and Burrows got engaged during in 2024 (see photos here), sharing the news publicly that September. True to form for their romance, there are no details yet on when they plan to tie the knot.
