Brooklyn Beckham recently released a shocking statement alleging his parents David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have been “controlling the narrative,” and claims he has no desire to reconcile with them.

In a series of Instagram Stories posted on January 19, Brooklyn appeared to address the rumors that he and his wife, actor Nicola Peltz-Beckham, have fallen out with his parents, writing that he had been left with “no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth.”

The 26-year-old content creator claimed his parents told him that Nicola, 31, was “not family” the night before their wedding in 2022. He also wrote that his mother danced “inappropriately” on him at their wedding reception, during what was supposed to be his first dance with his wife.

According to Brooklyn, the couple continued to suffer “endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.”

While Victoria, 51, has not addressed the allegations publicly, David, 50, offered a cryptic message about the “power” of social media without directly mentioning his son's posts. During an appearance on CNBC's Squawk Box on January 20, the former soccer player claimed he's tried to teach his kids to use social media “for the right reasons” but acknowledged that children “are allowed to make mistakes.”

“That is how they learn,” David said. “That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”

To learn more about the Beckham family drama, here's the full timeline of their alleged ongoing feud.

April 2022: Brooklyn and Nicola tie the knot in Miami wedding

The first rumors of a feud began circulating after Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding in April 2022. The pair have been together since late 2019 and were engaged in 2020.

Their wedding took place at Nicola's family estate in Miami in 2022, with over 500 guests in attendance including both families. At the ceremony, Nicola wore a Valentino Haute Couture gown, not a Victoria Beckham design, which prompted fans and online media to speculate there was something of a feud between the pair.

March 2023: Nicola denies rumors of a feud

Following speculation of a rift, Nicola shut down any rumors during an interview with Cosmopolitan in March 2023. “I’ve said this so many times: There’s no feud. I don’t know. No one ever wants to write the nice things,” she explained. “It’s really weird, actually, whether it’s my life or someone else’s life or whatever, when you know the truth and then you read something totally wrong.”

She also previously told The Sunday Times in October 2022 more details about the alleged wedding dress saga, adding, “I think it all started, and I’ve said this before, because I didn’t end up wearing Victoria’s wedding dress. But the real truth is, I really, really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn’s mom got to make that for me! And I was really excited to wear it! And I didn’t end up wearing it.”

April 2025: Rumors of a feud between Brooklyn and brother Romeo start

The dust seemed to settle after the wedding dress rumors were put to bed and the family appeared united. Brooklyn and Nicola attended the premiere for David's Netflix documentary, the Beckham family attended Nicola's film premiere, and they spent some of the Christmas holidays together.

However, in April 2025, feud speculation ramped up again. Beckham sibling Romeo had begun dating DJ Kim Turnbull, who had allegedly dated Brooklyn prior to his relationship with Nicola. At the time, TMZ reported that Brooklyn and Romeo were not on speaking terms because of the relationship.

Shortly after this, it was noted that Brooklyn and Nicola didn't attend David's 50th birthday celebration. Romeo shared a post from the party with his family, in which Brooklyn and Nicola were notably absent. Romeo captioned the post “Family is everything” and didn't tag Brooklyn or Nicola. It was also reported that Brooklyn and Nicola didn't attend Victoria's latest fashion show.

August 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola renew their wedding vows with no Beckhams at the ceremony

In August 2025, Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows in front of 200 guests, but none of the Beckham family members appeared to be in attendance for the ceremony. Instead, Victoria and David were photographed a few days earlier in Saint-Tropez on vacation with the rest of the family.

October 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola don’t attend premiere for Victoria’s Netflix documentary

Victoria attended the premiere for her self-titled Netflix documentary in October 2025, but Nicola and Brooklyn were notably not present.

December 2025: Cruz Beckham speaks out on Instagram about rumors

Just before Christmas 2025, more fuel was added to the fire when it was reported Brooklyn no longer followed his parents on Instagram. The Daily Mail shared a story on the news and Cruz Beckham took a screenshot of the report and shared it on his Instagram Story with the caption, “NOT TRUE...My mum and dad would never unfollow their son.. Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I.”

It appears both Brooklyn and Nicola do not follow his younger siblings or parents, though they do still follow his grandmother on his father's side.

January 2026: Brooklyn says he is “consistently disrespected” by his family

The following month, in January 2026, Brooklyn shared a statement on his Instagram Stories alleging that his parents have been “controlling the narrative” and he had no choice but to “tell the truth.”

He seemingly addressed numerous reports from the press and shared further claims about his wedding to Nicola. “In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me,” he wrote. According to TMZ, video of the “inappropriate” dance exists, but the couple have no plans to release it.

Brooklyn also claimed he has been “consistently disrespected” by his family, noting that his father had refused all attempts to see him for “quality time” unless it was “at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.”

He ended his post by alleging that his family's love and affection is “decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even it it’s at the expense of our professional obligations.”
