Even if you missed the Video Music Awards this year, you’ve likely seen Doja Cat’s viral red carpet look. The musician sported a bright red lip with a mini dress by luxury brand Balmain, along with mega-platform yellow open-toed heels. The most show-stopping part about her time in front of photographers, though? Doja Cat’s newest accessory—her (apparently edible) lipstick.
The rapper is MAC’s newest global ambassador, so it only makes sense that she flaunted her latest go-to lipstick shade. The viral moment featured Doja Cat eating a lipstick, which was actually a chocolate creation made by famous French pastry chef and chocolatier Amaury Guichon, to draw attention to her new role with the makeup brand. She posted the sweet accessory on Instagram, with followers citing the move as “fabulous,” “stunning,” and “iconic.” Doja Cat’s partnership with the brand was then revealed on Monday morning, via a second social media post that dubbed her a “MAC girl forever.”
Although fans may not be able to order the unique treat for themselves, they can shop the bright red lip this dessert emulates (and the one she actually wore on the carpet).
Doja Cat used the $25 M.A.Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick in shade Lady Danger (a bright, vivid coral red) to both complete her look and mimic a chocolate treat. The product's ingredients include coconut oil, organic shea butter, and cocoa butter to help nourish the lips. All you have to do is apply the lipstick directly to the lips and define it with a lip pencil or layer with a gloss to complete the lip combo. You can even use a slight dab of the product on your cheeks as a fun blush.
The lipstick provides eight hours of moisture, with wear lasting up to 12 hours. It’s advertised not to feather, bleed, flake, or become cakey within those 12 hours. It leaves a matte finish with full coverage that’s ideal for statement events, such as a big music award ceremony (or just your everyday bold look, for us regular folks). Shop it in 44 colors at Ulta, Nordstrom, or MAC Cosmetics, spanning from classic nude hues to sexier pinks.
We just wouldn’t recommend taking a bite out of it — unless you’re Doja Cat on the red carpet and it’s made of chocolate.
