Anyone keen on trying to figure out just what Swift smells like can finally rest, because the answer was revealed at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. At some point in the night, Swift posed for a photo with drag queen Xunami Muse—and, thankfully, the wholesome interaction was recorded and posted to the social media platform X.
“You smell so good,” are the words Muse seems to tell Swift after their photo was taken. “What is that?” Muse asks shortly after. It doesn’t take long for Swift to give her thanks, just before mouthing the words “Tom Ford.” Muse, with excitement, repeats Swift by saying, “Tom Ford! It’s so nice.”
Swifties might say that this revelation has been a long time coming. Now, the exact fragrance was not disclosed (in the video, at least), but this is still a good start. However, longtime followers of this case aren’t surprised by this answer: Back in 2020, fans spotted a bottle of Tom Ford Santal Blush in her Netflix documentary, Miss Americana. It has also been rumored on sites like Reddit and TikTok that Swift has previously revealed her go-to scents, with Santal Blush and another Tom Ford fragrance, Tobacco Vanille, as both being on the list.
If you needed any more confirmation, though, you can look back to David Letterman’s description of Swift giving off the aroma of “expensive wood.” This would make sense, because Santal Blush is described as presenting “exotic spices enhanced with luxe ylang-ylang, warm cinnamon, and sumptuous woods.” The Tobacco Vanille is recounted to have “notes of sweet wood sap.”
This is one step closer than fans have ever been to an answer—so, by all means, go ahead and do what you will with this information.
