English actor Ryan Gosling began acting at the age of 12 on the The Mickey Mouse Club. He later went on to star in the short-lived series Breaker High (1997-1998). Gaining momentum, he landed the part of a Neo-Nazi in 2001's The Believer. His breakthrough role came playing the male lead in the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook. In 2010,
he starred in the hit Blue Valentine with Michelle Williams.

Actor. Born Ryan Thomas Gosling on November 12, 1980 in London, Ontario, Canada. Raised a Mormon in Ontario, he suffered from Attention Deficit Disorder and struggled in school. In 1993, he joined the Mickey Mouse Club (fellow Mousketeers included Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake) and was soon starring in the popular teen series Young Hercules and Breaker High.
Gosling made appearances in several films before his breakthrough role as a Jewish neo-Nazi in 2001's The Believer, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. However, it wasn't until 2004 and his starring turn in the romantic blockbuster The Notebook opposite Rachel McAdams that mainstream audiences stood up and took notice. In 2006, he received critical acclaim for his role as Dan Dunne in Half Nelson. The intense and moving performance earned him a Best Actor Academy Award nomination.
Continuing to tackle diverse roles, Gosling played a young prosecutor in Fracture (2007) opposite Anthony Hopkins. He went on to star as a shy, delusional man who forms a sincere attachment to a doll whom he sees as a human in the offbeat comedy Lars and the Real Girl (2007). For his performance, Gosling earned a Golden Globe nomination.
Gosling has worked to promote several social causes, including AIDS, poverty, and the treatment of animals. He is also an accomplished jazz guitarist and singer.
