Profile
According to legend, Arthur was a Celtic king who started the Knights of the Round Table. Arthurian legend rose with Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th century romances, continued with the work of Sir Thomas Malory in the 15th century and was revived in the Victorian era by poet Alfred Lord Tennyson. Arthur may have been a real king who defended Wales from Saxon invasion during the 5th–6th centuries.
