Tony Richardson’s stage reputation was established with his production of Look Back in Anger (1956). In 1958, Richardson began making films, many dealing with the British urban working class, including the screen adaptations of Look Back in Anger (1958). One of his greatest successes came when he directed Tom Jones (1963), which won Oscars for best picture, best director and best screenwriter.
