Synopsis
Roberto Rossellini was a well-known Italian film director who produced government propaganda shorts during World War II but was secretly affiliated with underground cinema. His 1945 film Roma città aperta used documentary footage of anti-Facist activities, as did his later films. He has been called the "inventor" of Neorealism. His affair with Ingrid Bergman caused an international scandal.
