American movie director and producer Robert Wise has brought numerous classics to the screen, including such gems as The Sound of Music and West Side Story.


Robert Wise is one of the most influential American movie directors and producers of the 20th century. He started his career as an assistant editor on films by Orson Welles but followed his passion for directing with his first hit, The Body Snatcher. He went on to direct such classics as The Sound of Music, West Side Story, The Day the Earth Stood Still and The Haunting.
