Peter Carl Fabergé was born on May 18, 1846, in St. Petersburg, Russia and took over his father’s jewelry business in 1870. He created traditional jewelry and intricately decorated objects. He’s best known or his jeweled Easter eggs. European and Russian royalty loved his work, but as a result his workshop was shutdown after the 1917 revolution. He died in 1920 in exile.
