Basque writer Pío Baroja was born on December 28, 1872, in San Sebastián, Spain. He wrote 11 trilogies that dealt with social issues of the time. The most famous of them is the 1904 book, The Struggle for Life. During his lifetime he wrote almost 100 novels. He died on October 30, 1956, in Madrid.
