Born in Germany in 1900, Martin Bormann became one of Hitler's closest allies during the reign of the Nazi Party, and he played a key role in the systematic persecution and execution of Jews during the Holocaust. He disappeared following Hitler's death and was sentenced to death in absentia at Nürnberg in 1946.
