Marie Salle is best known for her ballet dancing and choreography throughout 18th century Paris and London.


Marie Salle was born 1707 in France. She would make her dancing debut in 1721 at the Paris Opera. Marie made a name for herself in Paris and London by choreographing a new style of ballet that was more expressive and integrated costumes of the story line. Additionally, Marie was the first woman to choreograph a ballet in which she also danced, Pygmalion.
