Marie Salle was born 1707 in France. She would make her dancing debut in 1721 at the Paris Opera. Marie made a name for herself in Paris and London by choreographing a new style of ballet that was more expressive and integrated costumes of the story line. Additionally, Marie was the first woman to choreograph a ballet in which she also danced, Pygmalion.
