Marcus Porcius Cato is best known for his time spent as a Roman politician, orator, and Latin writer.


Marcus Porcius Cato was born, approximately, 234 BC in Tusculum, Latium[Italy]. Cato was born into a plebeian family, but fought in the Second Punic War, before becoming popular for his oratory and writing on moral and political topics. The focus of his speaking and writing was his antagonism towards Hellenistic influences in Roman society. He was the first to write a history of Rome in Latin.
