Who Is Katie Lowes?
Born in 1981, Katie Lowes is an American actress who started out in television, appearing in shows such as The Sopranos, Ghost Whisperer The Closer, Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice and has also appeared in a few low-budget films. Starting in 2012, Lowes got her big break as Quinn Perkins on ABC's Scandal, starring opposite Kerry Washington, who stars as Olivia Pope.
Husband & Son
Lowes is married to actor Adam Shapiro (Steve Jobs, Sense8) and lives in Los Angeles. In October 2017 she gave birth to their first child, a baby boy they named Albee, which they announced on her Instagram.
As of 2016, Lowes has a net worth of $2 million.
Even though Lowes married her husband in 2012, it was only during a recent interview on Live! With Kelly in 2017 that the actress revealed her unique wedding day, which brought about a lot of buzz.
"I was a wedding planner's assistant for years," the actress admitted, which prompted her to want an untraditional wedding. "So my husband and I got married at a sleep-away camp in the Berkshires... it was the most fun."
The couple rented out over 200 cabins for their friends and family for their camp-themed wedding, which included a fire pit, drum circle, ice cream social and a towering Oreo wedding cake.
Early Life & Acting Career
Born on September 22, 1981 in Queens, New York, Katie Lowes attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. After graduating, Lowe's made her screen debut on FX's Rescue Me in 2004 before moving onto Showtime's Hate, working opposite Marcia Gay Harden.
Although she appeared in some low-budget films between 2009-2011, most of Lowe's work revolves around the small screen. She appeared on shows like The Sopranos, Without a Trace, Castle, Leverage, Royal Pains and had a part on the short-lived CW show Easy Money. Before landing her most visible role as Quinn Perkins on Shonda Rhimes' Scandal, the actress starred in J.J. Abrams sci-fi thriller Super 8 as well as other Rhimes shows such as Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy.
Lowes has also done a variety of voiceover work throughout her career, most notably in the animation films Wreck-It-Ralph (2012), Frozen (2013) and Zootopia (2016).
Supporting the theater community in Los Angeles, Lowes founded IAMA Theater Company with her husband and currently serves as a director.
