Who Is Karlie Kloss?
Born in 1992, Karlie Kloss is one of the most famous faces in the modeling industry, and with her 6 foot 1 inch frame, she's literally stood out among her peers. In 2011 she earned her angel wings and has since walked the coveted Victoria's Secret runway. She's graced endless international Vogue magazine covers and been spotted in an array of ad campaigns, including Donna Karan, Dolce and Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Versace, Calvin Klein and Estee Lauder. With her smart and exuberant personality, Kloss found her way into television, appearing as a correspondent in Netflix's educational series Bill Nye Saves the World and in 2018 premiered her own show, Movie Night With Karlie Kloss, on Freeform. An advocate for young girls and education, Kloss launched her initiative, Kode With Klossy, to encourage girls to learn how to code and explore the computer sciences.
Kloss is 6 feet, 1 inches tall (some sources say she's 6 feet, 2 inches tall.)
Kloss has three sisters — whose first names also start with "K": Kristine and twins Kariann and Kim.
"My sisters and I are really close in age," she told Vogue in 2018. "We each challenge one another — we have different strengths, and so we really complement one another. When we got in fights when we were little I had to learn to defend myself, I was pushed to be stronger at things I’m weaker at. Sisters are built-in best friends. Brutally honest best friends! You need somebody to do that."
Kloss has an estimated net worth of $16 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Additional Modeling and TV Work
Besides representing luxury fashion brands, Kloss has also worked with fashion retailers like Express, Topshop, American Eagle and Uniqlo. She's also appeared on editorials for all the major fashion and beauty magazines — Vanity Fair, Elle, Allure, and Vogue — and in 2016 became the new ambassador for Swarovski.
Among her additional TV appearances, Kloss has built her social media and launched her own YouTube channel, Klossy. She also served as host on the red carpet for the MTV Movie Awards in 2013.
As a computer programmer herself, Kloss wanted to inspire young girls to pursue subjects like software engineering and computer science and thus, launched Kode With Klossy. The initiative hosts summer camps for girls (currently there are 12 camps) between the ages of 13 and 18 and offers scholarships.
"I’m really passionate about girls," Kloss told Net-a-Porter in an interview in 2018. "I grew up in a house full of girls, and so many of the people who have been supportive of me throughout my career have been young women. I’ve wanted to give something back in a way, [and coding] has made a huge difference in my life."
She added: "Not everybody loves math or science and that’s totally ok. I’m not trying to force every girl to become an engineer. It’s more that I have sincere passions and curiosities in understanding how the world around me works, and math and science ultimately can explain why and how."
Since 2012, Kloss has been dating Joshua Kushner — Jared Kushner's brother. The couple got engaged in 2018.
Kloss is famously friends with Taylor Swift and has appeared in her music videos.
