Jean Renoir was born on September 15, 1894, in Paris, France. In 1934, he directed his first movie, La Fille de l'eau. He became a United States citizen in 1946. Also in the 1940s, he signed with two major movie studios. In the 1950s he kept active in theater. He wrote a biography of his father in the 1960s and likewise directed C'est la Revolution. He died February 12, 1979, in Beverly Hills, California.
