El Chapo, a.k.a. Joaquín Guzmán Loera, may not have been the leader of the powerful Sinaloa Mexican drug cartel but “a lieutenant” who took orders, said his lawyers, asserting proof from the government itself. Loera was brought from Mexico to the U.S. last year to stand trial.
