Chris Dodd is an American Democratic politician, who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1975–81) and of the U.S. Senate (1981– ).


Chris Dodd was born May 27, 1944. Following his father's career path, Dodd ran for and was elected to the Senate in 1980. He was reelected in 1986, 1992, 1998, and 2004—the first Connecticut senator to be elected to five consecutive terms. His time in Congress was marked by an interest in child welfare, fiscal reform, and education. He tried unsuccessfully to run for president in 2008.
