Bob Wills was a country music fiddler, singer, and songwriter whose band pioneered the “western swing” genre.


Born March 6, 1905, in Texas, Bob Wills was an American country music fiddler, singer, and songwriter. In 1934 he formed the Texas Playboys, and their radio performances made him a star in the Southwest. They pioneered the “western swing” genre, blending traditional hoedown fiddling with big-band swing and blues. Wills’ best-known compositions include 'San Antonio Rose' and 'Panhandle Rag.'
