Billy Martin was born May 16, 1928 in Berkeley, California. Martin began playing minor league baseball at the age of 18. Once Martin made the major leagues, he played for several different teams, winning a championship with the Yankees. Martin's legacy is in his managerial career, consistently turning around sub par teams. His five firings by George Steinbrenner while the Yankees manager were indicative of his mercurial personality, but knowledge of the game.
