Benoit Mandelbrot was known as the father of the fractals, a concept he popularized in The Fractal Geometry of Nature in 1982.


Benoit Mandelbrot was a mathematician born in Poland, but moved to France as child and then naturalized in the United States. Although Mandelbrot was accomplished in the field of mathematics, he was best known for popularizing geometric fractals in his book, The Fractal Geometry of Nature.
