Activist, Animal Rights Activist (1942–2007)
Dame Anita Roddick founded The Body Shop cosmetics chain which banned animal testing in its products and promoted various social and environmental causes.


Dame Anita Roddick was born on October 23, 1942 in Littlehampton, West Sussex, England. She opened the first Body Shop in 1976 to bring natural ingredients to health and beauty products, and the store became a global brand. Roddick was vocal in her support for social and environmental causes, including bans on animal testing. In 2006 The Body Shop was sold to L'Oreal. Roddick died in 2007.
