Who needs stamps anymore? We do when the stamp is dedicated to rock n’ roll icon Janis Joplin. Today the U.S. Postal Service issues its Joplin stamp, featuring a famous black-and-white photo of the rock star by Dave Gahr with signature round glasses, wild hair and hippie bangles, surrounded by some psychedelic 60s-style script. Definitely a stamp worth collecting...
If you're into philately, the Joplin stamp is the fifth in the postal service's Music Icon series which also includes country legend Johnny Cash, Tejano music star Lydia Mendoza, R&B soulman Ray Charles and rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix.
With her history-making performances and soulful rock classics like "Piece of My Heart" and "Me and Bobby McGee," Janis deserves to be stamped into history.
Who else deserves their face on a stamp?
