Now that True Blood is entering its seventh and final season, how do you feel about things coming to a close?

I will miss my friends the most. This crew, cast and staff have been family for the last seven years and I will never forget the years we shared. On the flip side I'm quite excited. I'm so amazed and proud that we accomplished this gigantic undertaking, and now I get to watch my friends and co-workers go on to do more amazing things.

So we know you can’t give too much away about the premiere, but can you offer any juicy hints on what to expect this Sunday? Any big surprises?

Well, as usual, we pick up right where we left off. The “Hep V” vamps are on their way towards our heroes. The outcome will prove to be very bloody. You'll also meet a few of our guest stars for this season in those opening moments.

Did you ever envision yourself playing a character like Jessica?

I don't find myself envisioning characters much before I read them in a script. But I am thrilled at the incredible journey that I've been on with Jess. I could never have predicted the many twists and turns along the way.

What will the dynamics be between Jessica, her new vampire beau James, and Jason Stackhouse? And is it a coincidence that your character names all start with “J”?

I'm pretty sure it is a coincidence. But it is kinda cute. While James and Jessica are still together, Jessica will always have a strong connection with Jason. Don't worry, there will be plenty of relationship drama this year.

Have you had fans recognize you on the street? What’s the strangest thing a fan has ever said to you?

I get picked out sometimes but not that often. People are usually very sweet. I guess the strangest would be a young gentleman who told me I should sue the dentist who gave me my veneers. Just one problem, I don't have veneers. That was an awkward one for him to back out of.

What was one of the most memorable scenes you did out of the entire series? The most difficult?

There are so many. But how about a little nugget to look forward to? My favorite scene of the upcoming season takes place in a car. It was the last two-hander I would have with a particular actor who I'm going to miss working with immensely. It was a lovely night but also a somewhat sad one. I made a great effort to log that memory someplace safe.

Are you close friends with any of the cast members outside of work? Is there anyone in particular that you’ll really miss working with on set?

I am close friends with many of my fellow coworkers. A few of the crew are neighbors as well, so we do BBQs every once in a while. If I had to pick a cast member I'd miss working with I think it'd be Ryan [Kwanten]. Not only is he crazy talented, he is also the nicest guy and so easy and cooperative on set. Not to mention that the “Jason” and “Jessica” storyline will always be my favorite of the series.

If you could’ve portrayed any other character on the show, who would it have been?

Arlene would be really fun. Or Jason. Or Andy. But honestly a big reason those roles are so amazing is because of the actors. It wouldn't be the same with anyone else in the role.

What’s your dream role?

Hopefully every character contains elements of your dream role. I like playing women who stand up for themselves or learn how to stand up for themselves. I also like characters that inhabit contradictions. Like “Jessica;” she's dorky and sexy, wise and naive, all at once.

You’ve been really passionate about promoting awareness on your boyfriend’s rare genetic retinal disease, choroideremia, which causes blindness. How are you guys doing individually and as a couple today (considering it affects you both)?

We are doing great. Thank you. We do a lot of auctions and outreach, and making good progress towards a treatment.

What’s next for you? Where do you see your career post True Blood?

I'm looking for something interesting and challenging. I love theater and want to return there in the near future, but premium television is a great place to work, and film would be awesome, too. I'm open to anything that sparks my interest.
