Audiences will soon be saying goodbye to their beloved Reege. Regis Philbin announced Tuesday that he'll tape his last episode of Live! With Regis and Kelly on Friday, November 18. The 80-year-old host announced in January that he'd be stepping down from the show after nearly 28 years. "But don't worry, the show goes on," he assured viewers. Philbin said his replacement will be found by co-host Kelly Ripa, who will be trying out new co-hosts on the show. What sort of co-host will she be looking for to replace Philbin? "Alive and breathing is what we're talking about," Ripa joked. The duo, known for their playful bante each took home a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in June. The TV talk show icon began his career as a page on the Tonight Show in the 1950s. Philbin was joined by co-host Kathy Gifford from 1985 to 2000, and in 2009 he broke the Guiness Book of World Records for the most hours spent in front of a TV camera— over 16,500 in all.
