Biography.com's "Week in Review" highlights interesting people who've made the news this past week—thanks to their endeavors, big ideas, triumphs, importance in history, or magnanimous gaffes. While there were many people to choose from, here are our top picks that made us either raise an eyebrow, roll our eyes, shed a tear, or just gave us a good chuckle.

Alex Jones vs. Piers Morgan: The Blast Heard Round the Nation

Image Title1

Why need an AK-47 when you can hear the bullets torpedoing out of the mouth of pro-gun radio host Alex Jones? Appearing on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, Jones went to town on the British journalist, who's been very vocal on his anti-gun stance since the Newtown massacre. Wasting no time in the interview, Jones flailed his right arm violently towards Morgan who remained calm and collected...because, had he not, channel surfers may have mistaken CNN for the WWE. "The republic will rise again if you attempt to take our guns!" the radio host cried out with angry, almost violent passion. Besides us wanting to scream "Yeeehawww!" and giddyup into the sunset on a crazy horse at hearing this threat, the other notable oddball occurrence was when Jones proceeded to spout off statistics on the "epidemic" of non gun-related deaths—with prozac and great white sharks being two of them. (No joke). Watch Part One of the insane tirade from a tyrant who hates tyrants:

The reason why Morgan had the fringe character on his show in the first place is because Jones was one of the main architects of a petition to deport the Brit out of the country. Because the petition gained over 100K signatures—well above the 25K-plus signatures it takes to require the government to respond—the White House press secretary issued a statement about the importance of free speech and free press. Thus, expect to see Morgan's mug on CNN without interruption. Source: The Blaze Gabby Giffords Launches Anti-Gun Lobby Movement

Speaking of guns, this Tuesday marked the second-year anniversary of the Tucson, Arizona shooting that left six people dead and Democratic U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords injured with a bullet wound to the head. Compounded by all of the recent gun-related shootings this past year—most notably the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut—Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly used the anniversary to launch an initiative, Americans For Responsible Solutions, in order to create a "national dialogue and raise funds to counter influence of the gun lobby.” Although both Giffords and Kelly are gun owners and supporters of the Second Amendment, they believe much more has to be done to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and those who are mentally ill. "Achieving reforms to reduce gun violence and prevent mass shootings will mean matching gun lobbyists in their reach and resources," the couple wrote in a USA Today column. They added: "This country is known for using its determination and ingenuity to solve problems, big and small. Wise policy has conquered disease, protected us from dangerous products and substances, and made transportation safer. But when it comes to protecting our communities from gun violence, we're not even trying—and for the worst of reasons." Source: NBC News Gerard Depardieu: New Russian Citizen?

Sacré bleu! After skipping out on a DUI trial from his native country earlier this week, French actor Gerard Depardieu seems to be mulling over the idea of becoming a Russian citizen...that is, after he becomes a Belgian citizen?? (It all seems to make sense in his nose mind.) In December Depardieu decided to shack up in Belgium as a way of protesting rising income taxes in France; (the government, at the time, was trying to raise taxes to 75 percent on those earning over $1.3 million.). Although the measure failed to pass, Depardieu made matters worse for himself when he got into a war of words with French Socialist Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, who told the actor that his action of moving to Belgium was simply "lame." Apparently, that "lame" comment gave Depardieu motivation to seek citizenship elsewhere, and oddly, Russian President Vladimir Putin came to the rescue by issuing him a Russian passport. Now that he's facing criminal charges because of his no show at his trial, Depardieu better be quick to figure out where he wants to reside. Considering the 63-year-old actor's over appreciation for the bubbly (remember his drunken peeing-on-a-plane incident in 2011?), gee, we wonder if he'll choose to live in a country associated with chocolate or a country associated with vodka? Reports have come out this week about Amy Winehouse's last hours before she died from an alcohol overdose in July 2011. According to testimony from her security guard, the "Rehab" artist was seemingly in a happy state, drinking and watching YouTube clips of herself on her computer. When the guard returned the next day, he found the singer lying face down on her bed with two empty bottles of vodka on her floor. Toxicology reports showed that Winehouse had fatal levels of alcohol in her body. Known for her public battles with drinking, why did Winehouse return to her bad habits? Just days before her death, the singer reportedly told her doctor she started boozing again because she was simply "bored." Source: Daily Mail Hillary Clinton Heads Back to Work—With Protective Gear

On Monday, Hillary Clinton got back to work after recovering from a horrible accidental fall that left her with a concussion and a potentially dangerous blood clot behind her right ear. While the secretary of state was business as usual, her staff gave her a hearty laugh when they bequeathed her with a football helmet and a jersey with the number 112, which represented the number of countries she had visited in the past four years. With all the rumors that Clinton is eyeing the presidency in 2016, we figure her opponents better take heed and get their own helmets.
