Quote of the Week: John Muir

John Muir, the “Father of the National Parks” and founder of The Sierra Club, died 100 years ago on this day. He devoted his life to preserving American wilderness for future generations to enjoy. So thank you John Muir, for Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Parks, and all the other parks and natural wonders you helped to save.

John Muir Quote

Did you know?

John Muir was blinded in a serious work accident in March 1867. His right eye was pierced with a sharp tool which caused him to lose his vision in both eyes. He vowed that if he ever regained his sight, he would travel around the world and take in its beauty. Luckily, his vision returned several months later. In his subsequent travels, he also contracted malaria and survived that too.
