The Fourth of July is upon us and firing up the grill is a longstanding American tradition. Another tradition, which coincides with Independence Day, is Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. In 2013, California native and extreme hot dog annihilator, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut reclaimed his status as champion hot dog chomper against the formidable Takeru Kobayashi by eating 69 hot dogs — with buns y'all — in 10 minutes. He’s currently ranked as the world’s top competitive eater.

Chestnut’s super-elasticized belly has won him some major prizes: money, cars, motorcycles, and legions of fans. Yes, this master of mastication is surely the pro-eating equivalent to Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, Babe RuthRoger Federer, and for all you World Cup fans, Lionel Messi.

If you have the stomach for it, tune in to ESPN2 this weekend for all the hot dog eating action! Will Joey keep his title?
