One of the most famous artwork bruhahas of the 20th century occurred when Henri Matisse’s masterpiece, Blue Nude, was first exhibited in France and followed by its 1913 exhibit in Chicago where haters ridiculed and even burned copies of it to express their distaste. And the controversial piece caught the attention of another famous artist of the day. Talking about the work to art student Walter Pach, Pablo Picasso said, “If he wants to make a woman, let him make a woman… If he wants to make a design, let him make a design. This is between the two.”
