Born on November 12, 1929, Grace Kelly was one of Hollywood’s most beautiful Golden Age starlets. She captivated film audiences in the 1950s with her roles in such classics as Dial M for Murder and To Catch a Thief. Her life unfolded like a fairytale when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco, for whom she gave up her career and American citizenship. Tragically, the fairytale was cut short when at the age of 52 she was killed in an automobile accident while driving along the steep hills of the Côte d'Azur region in southern France.

In order to marry Prince Rainier, Grace Kelly’s family had to pay a dowry of over $2 million, which would be more than $17.5 million today. Today, the idea of Kelly − one of Hollywood's most beautiful starlets − needing to shell out any amount of money to marry seems inconceivable.
