The 2014 Academy Awards are right around the corner—March 2nd—and who would’ve guessed that we have a presidential lookalike right in the mix (just trailing Presidents' Day)? Michael Fassbender has been nominated for an Oscar for his role in 12 Years a Slave (2013), a film that required the actor to take on one of his darker roles as a ruthless slave owner. His lookalike, President Ulysses S. Grant, was also a slave owner by way of his wife before making it to the White House. (Grant’s father-in-law gave the slave—William Jones—to him, and Grant later freed him in 1859.)
Aside from the famous figures sharing a common thread in America’s dark side of history, they have a few other things in common. Both men share an affinity for the fast lane—Fassbender loves Formula One racing and Grant got a speeding ticket for riding his horse too fast. And of course, the two men's almost-identical bearded looks also help.
