Today in 1954 photographer Sam Shaw shot the famous "flying skirt" image of his friend Marilyn Monroe. What was going on behind-the-scenes? Shaw's granddaughter takes us there.
Melissa Stevens is the Director of Shaw Family Archives, a family-owned company founded in 2002 that preserves and promotes the work of her grandfather, the photographer and filmmaker Sam Shaw. Before managing Sam Shaw’s archive, Melissa worked in the film industry between Italy and New York. Credits include Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic, HBO’s Rome, and The Sopranos. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University.
