Co-written by Adam Sandler, 'The Hanukkah Song' has become a modern classic to croon every holiday season.

Performed on SNL's Weekend Update on December 3, 1994, Adam Sandler's "The Hanukkah Song" was originally written for all Jewish kids who, according to Sandler, may feel a bit shafted during the Christmas season. Since its debut, though, the song has become such a cherished holiday ditty that even some of us Gentiles can't help but get the Hanukkah feels.

After all, as Sandler points out:

Hanukkah is the festival of lights! /

Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights!

In his original hit, Sandler tries to encourage his Jewish brethren by pointing out the Jewish celebs who can empathize with feeling left out of Christmas:

David Lee Roth lights the menorah! /

So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah... !

And

Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half too! /

Put them together, what a fine lookin' Jew!

And many people's favorite part (the uncut version):

So drink your gin and tonicah! /

And smoke your marijuanikah! /

If you really, really wannakah! /

Have a happy, happy, happy,

Happy Hanukkah!

Sandler's "Hanukkah Song" became such a hit, he went on to update his lyrics a few more times throughout the years, adding more Jewish celebs into the mix. In his most recent 2015 version, Sandler crooned:

Jared from Subway: God d*mmit, a Jew! /

But guess who’s Jewish and can fix him? Loveline’s Dr. Drew (get on it doc!)

And

Princess Leia cuts the challah with Queen Elsa from Frozen! /

David Beckham is the king of soccer studs and also a quarter chosen!

We don't know about you, but we think Sandler's latest ending to his famous song seems pretty apropos, given this tumultuous year. If you agree, then let's sing, all together now!:

From New York to Iran-ukah, get up and celebrate Hanukkah! /

Don’t mess with us, oh Hanukkah, let’s all get along for Hanukkah! /

So drink your Jaegerbomb-ukah and smoke your medical-chron-ukah! /

If you really, really wan-ukah, have a happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy Hanukkah!
