After serving as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces during World War II, Dwight D. Eisenhower campaigned against "Communism, Korea, and Corruption," and was elected President of the United States in 1952. While President, he created the Interstate Highway System and sent the National Guard to desegregate Central High School in Little Rock.
