Episode Description

The career of the opera star known for her glorious voice, dramatic gifts, stormy temperament, and romantic life. Maria Callas had a long liaison with Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis, but Onassis broke her heart when he wed Jacqueline Kennedy in 1968. Performing the title role in Bellini's Norma made Callas a star in Europe before she conquered America, where her contract disputes with the Metropolitan Opera earned her a dubious reputation.
