Arthur Ashe.
A look at the beloved tennis champion and humanitarian whose life was cut tragically short when he contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion. An African-American who was born into segregated Richmond, Virginia in 1943, Ashe broke the color line in tournament after tournament and campaigned against apartheid in South Africa. On the tennis court, he won the U.S. Open in 1968 and Wimbledon in 1975, where he stunned the highly favored Jimmy Connors in the final.
