After rising from obscurity to the lead in a Hollywood drama that played out onscreen and off, Tippi Hedren still emanates the self-assured beauty and tenacity that compelled Alfred Hitchcock to cast the newcomer in his 1963 thriller The Birds. Interviews with Hedren, daughter Melanie Griffith, and actor Rod Taylor illuminate the life of actress/conservationist Nathalie "Tippi" Hedren. Though she occasionally takes acting roles, Hedren devotes her energy to her wild animal preserve, Shambala.
