Episode Description
He overcame significant personal hurdles to become the Democrats' 2008 Vice Presidential Candidate. Afflicted with a pronounced stutter as a child, Joe Biden eventually triumphed over the problem becoming a trial lawyer and later a public defender. Turning to politics, he became the fifth youngest Senator in US history with a victory over the two-term Republican incumbent. However, shortly after his victory, tragedy struck during a Christmas shopping trip when a car accident claimed the lives of his wife and infant daughter. Biden considered resigning, but instead chose to commute three hours each way to be home with his two sons while maintaining his Senate seat. Since remarried, Joe Biden is in his fifth Senate term and is now a national power player.
