Episode Description
Profile of the two-time Academy Award winner whose remarkable career has been only one part of a dramatic, tumultuous life. After his big break on TV's St. Elsewhere, he went on to a phenomenal big screen career (Glory, Philadelphia, Training Day, Malcolm X, Antwone Fisher, and many more.) The son of a minister and a beautician, Denzel fell apart at 14 when his parents divorced, and he became addicted to heroin. But he found refuge and sobriety through the Boys' and Girls' Club. As the leading African-American actor of his generation, Washington has had to handle political responsibilities, but the challenges have been mostly overshadowed by his talent and body of work.
