Louis B. Mayer(1885 - 1957)Born in Minsk, Russia, film mogul Louis B. Mayer opened one of the earliest cinemas, a nickelodeon in Haverhill, Massachusetts. In 1915, he moved into film production, founding Metro Films, which became Metro-Goldwyn Mayer. Mayer helped create the Hollywood star system with films like 'Ben Hur' (1926) and 'Grand Hote'l (1932).
