Thomas Pynchon biography

Born on May 8, 1937, in Glen Cove, New York, Thomas Pynchon studied science and English at Cornell University, publishing his first novel V in 1963. Subsequent work included The Crying of Lot 49, Vineland and Mason & Dixon, known for their layered, complex narratives. Pynchon, who is very private, won the National Book Award for Gravity’s Rainbow and is slated to publish Bleeding Edge in 2013.
