Simone de Beauvoir was born on January 9, 1908, in Paris, France. When she was 21 she became romantically involved with Jean-Paul Sartre. In the late 1920s, she published the first part of her autobiography. She published the second part, and the novel She Came to Stay, in the early 1940s. In 1949, she wrote The Second Sex. She finished the last part of her autobiography at 63, and died April 14, 1986.
