Sidney Sheldon was born on February 11, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois. He began his career as a screenwriter and eventually moved into television, writing nearly every episode of The Patty Duke Show. In 1967, he won an Emmy Award for his work on I Dream of Jeannie. Sheldon later wrote 18 novels, including best-sellers like Master of the Game and Rage of Angels. He suffered from bipolar disorder, which is detailed in his autobiography, The Other Side of Me. He died in 2007.
